1. How does a solar charger work?
 
A solar charger converts solar energy into electricity through an electro-chemical process. The embedded solar panel gathers and stores energy to the solar charger's internal battery. The stored energy can be then used to charge different 5V DC, USB-compatible devices, when necessary.

2. How do I know if my mobile device is compatible with Suntrica's solar chargers?
 
Suntrica's portable solar chargers provide charging power to most USB compatible devices having a charging voltage of 5v DC, e.g. mobile phones, MP3 players, GPS devices and digital cameras.

3. How to acquire optimal charging performance?
 
Optimal charging performance is achieved outdoors in direct sunlight when the solar panel is positioned towards the sun. Clouds, shades, and window glass reduce the charging performance notably.

4. How do I know when the solar charger is gathering solar energy and what is the charger's current charge level?
 
SCOUT: SCOUT indicates the internal battery's charge level with three LED lights. By touching the "POWER OFF/TEST" contact surface with the tip of the charging cable, one, two or three LED lights will light up to indicate the approcimate charge level.

MOVE: To test the charge level of MOVE's internal battery, shortly press the push-button on the battery pack and 1-4 green LED lights will illuminate to indicate the approximate charge level. If MOVE's itnernal battery is empty and you push the button, all four LED lights blink simultaneously two times in a row. MOVE is also equipped with a solar power monitoring system - to test the solar panels charging power, press the push-button on the top of the battery pack for over four (4) seconds.

5. How long does it take to charge the solar charger from the sun?
 
SCOUT: Theoretical (1500 mAh) battery charge from 0% to 50% takes 2,5 hours in ideal conditions. Power absorption of the Li-Po battery slows down in the end of its charging cycle, causing the battery to charge up from 50% to 100% in a longer period.

MOVE: In ideal charging conditions (direct sunlight), MOVE's (3000 mAh) internal battery will be charged in 13 to 15 hours.

6. How long does it take to charge my mobile device with the solar charger
 
Mobile device's charging time depends on the size of the devices own internal battery. The charging speed from the solar charger corresponds to a normal wall charger.

7. Can I charge my mobile device directly from the sun with a charging cable attached to the solar charger?
 
SCOUT: SCOUT is capable of charging its internal battery from the sun and the target device from the internal battery simultaneously with a charging cable attached.

MOVE: MOVE is also capable of charging a mobile device directly from the sun with a charging cable attached, but the charging efficiency is only about 70% from the normal charging efficiency.

8. Does the solar charger gather energy indoors?
 
Suntrica's solar chargers are designed to gather direct sunlight and thus recommended for outdoor use. Artificial lightning conditions will give only a marginal amount of energy.
PLEASE NOTE: Suntrica does not recommend charging behind a window glass or through a car windshield as they weaken the charging performance and the temperature might rise dangerously high for the solar charger.

9. Can I charger Suntrica solar chargers from other sources than the sun?
 
SCOUT: SCOUT's internal battery can only be charged with its own solar panel. PLEASE NOTE: Do not charge SCOUT with a wall charger, car charger or with a USB cable from e.g. a laptop. The wrong type of charge may damage the product permanently.

MOVE: MOVE's internal battery can be quick-charged with an AC power supply. The battery can be charged from a computer's USB-port with micro-USB cable, from mains power with an AC wall charger (micro-USB) or with a car charger. PLEASE NOTE: If you charge MOVE with a car charger, only use Suntrica Ltd.'s 12V DC car charger (CLA-2). Use of any non-approved car charger may damage the solar charger permanently.

10. Can I leave my solar charger into direct sunlight for a long period of time?
 
Suntrica recommends to keep the charger outdoors and in direct sunlight as much as possible. This way you will always have extra energy for use in the solar charger battery.
PLEASE NOTE: Make sure that air can move freely around the charger and the air temperature does not rise above 50C. Do not leave the charger on a car dashboard due to the risk of extreme temperature and permanent damage to the charger.

11. Can I use my solar charger in the rain?
 
Suntrica solar chargers are splashproof and will tolerate humid environments but they are not meant to be left in the rain or exposed to underwater conditions.

12. What if the solar charger does not start to charge my mobile device?
 
Make sure, that:
your mobile device and the solar charger are properly connected. Try detaching the charging cable from the solar charger and the target device and connect them again.
the charging temperature is above 0C and below 50C. The chargers are equipped with a temperature limiter to protect the internal battery from overheating.
your device uses 5V DC charging voltage. Suntrica solar chargers are only compatible with devices utilizing the aforementioned specification.
your device supports USB charging standard. SCOUT and MOVE supports the USB charging standard and if the target device is not USBcompatible, disruptions may occur while charging.
SCOUT: Remember to switch SCOUT on by touching the ON/OFF contact surface. SCOUT will start charging only when it has been switched on and the three LED lights are illuminating.

13. Does the solar charger require any maintenance?
 
Suntrica solar chargers do not require any maintenance. Do not disassemble the charger. Use a soft, dry/damp cloth to clean the chargers exterior, when necessary. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents or strong detergents to clean the product.
